¶ Paolo “Paul” Piazza (sometimes signing with his alias “Perez”), born in 1965, a well-known scribbler of school-age journals, drew mainly comics and caricatures in the second ‘80s for some italian publishing houses. In the first ‘90s he won both first and second prizes at the northern competition “caricature and satire” in caricatures section. Frequently close to full time work for press, he did not pursue a career as an illustrator in order to freely experiment with different techniques and to respect inspiration rather than work on order. His works include drawings, paintings(solo art exhibitions during the late ‘90s), airbrushing motorbikes and helmets, tattoing, painted big clocks, little sculptures, home murals. However, he never completely stopped drawing cartoons. Recent years/today: some strips were published and some caricatures(mainly for sport pages) still appear on local daily magazines, “Gazzetta di Parma” above all.
